Chastening might include wrath, but “hidayah” (guidance, instruction) includes mercy.

The wrath of Allah Almighty always includes mercy.

While His wrath is not only wrath but includes mercy, his mercy is purely mercy and includes no trace of wrath.

“My Mercy Prevails Over My Wrath” says Allah Almighty.

Allah Almighty wishes to extend mercy to his servants even through events that we perceive as calamities. Perhaps such events are for the “chastening” of the servant.

Chastening might include wrath, but “hidayah” (guidance, instruction) includes mercy.

Let us ask for only His mercy by invoking His “hidayah” while we are praying for ourselves and our loved ones. Let us perceive this nuance in the prayer correctly inşaAllah.
