“The true believers are like a body”

When calamity befalls his brother, the true believer feels as if he himself is hit by this calamity and he is saddened because his brother is sad. If he does not act in this manner, the brotherhood of faith amongst the true believers cannot be realized. Just as Allah connected the organs in the human body to one another, He also connected the true believers to one another and made them brothers. The prophet (pbuh) used the following analogy for the true believers in a hadith: “The true believers are like a body in loving one another, showing compassion and mercy to one another. When an organ of the body complains, the other parts of the body rush to its aid by experiencing insomnia or having a fever.”
